Author Resources

Welcome to Mission Point Press. We have gathered here various guides and documents that outline or explain our publishing process. Your team leader will direct you to specific documents during the project, but feel free to look around, read, and print out whatever you need.

First things first. You’re going to hear the word POD a lot. It’s short for print-on-demand, and it works like this: When a customer orders a POD book through an online site like Amazon, that single book is automatically printed and packaged in one of various facilities in the US and around the world, then shipped directly, often that same day. POD compares to traditional, offset printing which typically requires a minimum print run of 500 books and a lead time of at least a month. Traditional printing also calls for warehousing and distribution plans. POD, on the other hand, needs no upfront inventory investment and distribution is built in. Another key advantage is that even after publishing a POD book, you can easily make changes or update it with new information. Well designed POD books are essentially indistinguishable from a those printed traditionally.

Mission Point Press offers both traditional offset and POD services. Most authors will only need POD. Find out more about the new world of print-on-demand publishing here:
